Prescription Medication Disposal

Permanent Drop Box

A medication drop box is available year-round in the lobby of the North Haven Police Department at 8 Linsley Street. Residents can safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medications at any time during lobby hours.

No appointment necessary. Free and anonymous.

DEA Collection Events

The Town of North Haven partners with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to host prescription medication collection events twice a year. These drive-through events allow residents to safely and anonymously dispose of medications.

What is Accepted
  • Prescription medications (in original containers; cross out your name with a black marker)
  • Vaping products and e-cigarettes (batteries must be removed)
What is NOT Accepted
  • Syringes or needles
  • Mercury thermometers
  • Inhalers or aerosol cans
  • Non-prescription ointments
  • Illegal substances
