On Wednesday Evening August 27, 2014, North Haven Police responded to the area of Quinnipiac Avenue near Middletown Avenue for a report of a man lying on the ground with a very young child walking near the roadway.  Officers responded and found Elliot Sanchez, a 44-year-old man from New Haven, lying on his back in the parking lot of the Mobile Gas Station.  Sanchez’s three-year-old daughter was with Sanchez, and was found with blood covering her face.  Investigators learned Sanchez struck his three-year-old daughter in her face prior to police arrival.  The assault on the child caused bruising around both eyes, bruising to her right ear, and a nosebleed.  In addition, finger shaped bruises were found on the child’s arms.   The three-year-old child was transported to an area hospital for treatment.  The CT Department of Children and Families was contacted and assisted with the placement of the injured child.  Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with Risk of Injury to a Child, Breach of Peace, and Assault.  He was held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in Meriden Superior Court.
